Public papers : Post office series, c.1951-1970.

Files document postal issues within South Carolina's Third District and include a sub-series of general correspondence, 1954-1970; correspondence, 1963, re bill regulating minimum freight rates; and sub-series, regarding the appointment of post masters and rural carriers. Later material contains correspondence and other records which provide intimate descriptions of local political affairs and battles over the filling of key patronage positions with the Postal Service; items arranged alphabetically by community. This series differs from postal files located in the Topical series, which chiefly relate to national issues; distinction reflects the original order imposed by Dorn and his office.
